History

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave the mandate to his disciples to proclaim the
Gospel to all nations. Embodied with the disciples’ mandate, the Church is
impelled by The Holy Spirit to educate and form every person based on the Gospel
Truth and Values. Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish has been blessed to
participate in the Church’s mission by establishing a parochial school – JESUS
SON OF MARY ACADEMY. In 1997, the taking possession of the parish by Rev.
Fr. Marty A. Dimaranan is very instrumental in hatching an egg of the dream that
was once kept in the hearts of previous pastors and parish workers. Armed with
expertise and vision, Fr. Marty formed a core group who will plan and work for the
establishment of a parochial school. With the submission of the required
documents, the permit for operations has been granted by the Department of
Education. The cloister vacated by the RVM sisters that underwent some repair
and modification has become the sanctuary for educating young minds.
Reflecting on the picture of Our Mother of Perpetual Help with Jesus grasping
the hand of Mother Mary because of his fear about the vision that the two angels
revealed to him, an experience of being a child of Mother Mary is imperative in
pursuing the will of God. With that, this parochial school would like to pronounce
that her students should all be like Jesus grasping the hand of his Mother, hence
the birth of the name Jesus Son of Mary Academy.
Academic year 1998-1999 commenced the mission of this parochial school of
educating young minds with 38 pupils from pre-school to grade-II. The following
year, grades III-VI were added with 86 pupils enrolled. The aroma of good
education could not be succumbed by intrigues and hardships. With much sacrifice
and cooperation of parents, eventually the school was able to cater more children
and made use of the spaces in the parish rectory as new classrooms. In order to
promote the parochial school in the wider community, the Parents-Teachers
Fellowship came to the fore.
After a decade, the Spirit of Wisdom keeps on bestowing His inspiration upon His
handmaids in order to transform this institution into a manger of Jesus where every
student will imbibe the values of the Master.
